The City of Light - Vision 2019

Lights in Alingsås has had a major influence on the development of the town of Alingsås. Residents’ knowledge of lighting has increased and many have attended courses in lighting, which are held in conjunction with the event. The number of tourists in Alingsås increases every October, and Lights in Alingsås has become an important part of the town’s profile.

Today, there are several places with permanent lighting schemes in the town – all inspired by Lights in Alingsås. The Town Hall at the Main Square, a playgound in the area of Bolltorp, and a residential area called "Stadsskogen" are some of the public places where the municipality has chosen to invest in lighting.

In November 2009, a stone wall in the residential area Stadsskogen received a special lighting design. The Museum Park, located in the town centre, will receive a designed lighting scheme this year, realised by Alingsås Energi according to a concept developed by Kai Pippo, PLDA, one of the most internationally active lighting designers.

Lighting is now an integral part of the work of urban architects and planners when developing public spaces.
