Love becomes the theme for Lights in Alingsås 2026

This year’s theme is Stories of Love and explores love in all its forms — from the great epic romances we read about in books to the love we feel for family, friends, and our pets.

“We live in a time when the world needs more love. We want to shower visitors with love so they leave here with a warm feeling inside. The theme allows for many different perspectives, so it will be exciting to see how it is interpreted during the workshop,” says Frida Almqvist, Workshop Manager.

Six experimental light installations will be created during the intensive workshop week at the end of September. In addition, several other installations (“highlights”) will be created locally or brought in from elsewhere, all inspired by this year’s theme of love.

The opening ceremony will take place in Åmanska Park on Friday, 2 October, and will offer plenty of love and surprises.

The Lights in Alingsås workshop runs from 25 September to 3 October. The light festival will continue for 31 days, from 2 October to 1 November.
