Alingsås Energi welcomed the lighting design elite this weekend

The seven chosen lighting designers this year travelled from Europe, USA and Mexico to  Alingsås.

Andrea Mantello was one of the workshop heads in 2011. “I had the best time last time, that is whyI´m back again! I still have contact with the workshop heads from then and some of the students”, he says.

Stephan Horn from Germany visited the workshop during 2013, knowing some of the workshop heads. I heard that Lights in Alingsås has a good reputation of being the best workshop in lighting, due to its quality and top education. “I wanted to experience that myself, and this year it happened”, he says.

New York based lighting designer Shoshanna Segal was in Alingsås for the first time. “This weekend I have felt the total spectrum of emotions. I became very personal involved. It’s a rare treat, both exhausting and exhilarating”, she says.

The group met for the first time last Thursday to get to know each other and the organisation, to walk the lighting trail and get to choose their site and start sketching on the concepts with the theme in consideration.

The theme for 2026 and the lighting trail will be announced to the public in course due.

Lights in Alingsås Workshop will take place from September 25th to October 3rd and the 31-day long festival from October 2nd to November 1st.
