Children´s Lights 2026

This year’s installation has been created by Kajsa Sperling and Agnes Langert from White Arkitekter. Together, they are creating a magical and welcoming space where children’s stories and their love of animals take centre stage. Visitors will encounter glowing animals gathered around a big red heart.

The animals are based on drawings and stories created by children during a workshop held together with Alingsås Kulturhus in Noltorp in June.

“We received lots of drawings and there was a great deal of interest. There were plenty of cats, but also a dog, a dinosaur, a bee and a horse,” says Kajsa Sperling.

The selected animals are being made from plywood and illuminated wire. On the back of each animal is a heart featuring the child’s story. Visitors will also be able to listen to the child who created the animal reading their own story aloud.

Not all of the drawings can be included in the light installation, but during Lights in Alingsås, all contributions from the workshop will be displayed at Kulturhuset.

Barnens Lights is a long-standing collaboration between Alingsås Energi and Sparbanken Alingsås, with playfulness, interaction and children’s creativity at its heart. Each year, the installation is given a new location and design.

“It’s a smart, fun and inclusive way to encourage children to be creative and express themselves. They get to be artists for a while, and White then gets to interpret their drawings and bring them to life. It was wonderful to see so many children taking part in the workshop,” says Staffan Svantesson, CEO of Sparbanken Alingsås.
