Poesipromenaden (The Poetry Walk) – in collaboration with Hemsjögården Residential Care Home

“All Words Exist!”

One of this year’s light installations during Lights in Alingsås is the Poetry Walk, created through a workshop with residents of Hemsjögården Residential Care Home. The Poetry Walk is a concept developed by Olsson & Linder and consists of an inclusive workshop where everyone is welcome to participate, regardless of background or previous experience.

Through an artistic installation consisting of illuminated signs in various colours mounted on lamp posts, the participants’ texts are given a natural place in the local public space, both during the day and after dark.

The workshop took place during an afternoon in August at Hemsjögården Residential Care Home. Staff and residents participated in the creative process using a variety of tools, including Blackout Poetry and Magnetic Poetry.

– We are delighted to have been invited to take part. It means a great deal to our residents to be involved and engaged. They would very much like to do something like this again, says Jumana Abbas, Acting Unit Manager at Hemsjögården.

The result is approximately 30 signs that will be displayed along the lighting tral, primarily in Nolhaga Park, from 2 October to 1 November.

The Poetry Walk during Lights in Alingsås is made possible through funding from the Bertil and Britt Svensson Foundation for Lighting Technology. The foundation promotes research and education in lighting technology through scholarships and project grants. Read more about the foundation here.
